About the Aircraft

Stampe SV4

Designed in Belgium in the 30-ies by Jean Stampe and his partner Vertongen, therefore "SV4" (their 4:th design).

30 planes was built in Beligum before World War II, but then the germans came... when France needed military training aircraft about 700 more was built, and also a couple of hundred in Algeria.

This aicraft SE-BEM has serial number 33, which mean it's the third one manifactured in France. It has the original Renault "Bengali" inverted straight 145 horsepower engine.

The plane is certified for advanced flying, is 1.5 times as fast as a Tiger Moth. The frame is made of wood. The Stampe has ailerons on both the upper and lower wing and is very fast and responsive to control changes. The thin wing profile is nearly symmetric which causes it to fly quite well inverted. SE-BEM was renovated in 1990 and is the only one in Sweden.
